With a team of 11 coaches—some who’ve been coaching CrossFit for over a decade, and others newly passionate about the craft—we’re proud to represent the very community we serve. Our coaches are known not just for technical knowledge, but for their ability to connect, support, and tailor every session to the individual. Whether you’re new to fitness or just coming back, you’re in good hands here.
Kristen Moustrouphis
Founder
At the heart of this gym is a commitment to building a strong, supportive community where fitness is not just about working out but about creating a foundation for lifelong health. Kristen brings a wealth of experience and passion for functional fitness, coaching, and community-building.

Her journey in the CrossFit world began in 2014 when she stepped into a CrossFit gym after months of hesitation. As a former high school and collegiate athlete, she quickly found herself drawn to the camaraderie and challenge. This passion led her to transition from a decade-long career in secondary education to coaching full-time in 2016 and later stepping into gym ownership of Crossfit Beacon in Portland in 2019. As a mom of two, Kristen understands firsthand the importance of a fitness space that meets people where they are—through all seasons of life. She has dedicated herself to creating an environment where members can build strength, confidence, and resilience. Here, fitness isn’t just about reps and sets; it’s about preparing for life’s ups and downs, supporting each other, and embracing the joy of movement. When you walk through these doors, you’ll find a space where everyone—no matter their starting point—is welcomed, challenged, and empowered to become the strongest version of themselves.

Karen is a CrossFit-L1 trainer. When Karen isn’t coaching or training, she is exploring her new home in Maine (she is a Boulder, Colorado transplant), being an amazing stepmom and mom to 5 fierce young adults. To Karen, CrossFit is just gym class for adults.

Kate is a CrossFit-L1 trainer, USAW-L1 Coach, and is CrossFit Kids Certified. When Kate isn’t coaching or training she is lawyering, eating all the tacos, spending time outdoors, and relentlessly spoiling her furry four-legged children and her one two-legged child, Ozzy.

Charlie is a CrossFit-L1 trainer. When not at the gym, Charlie is working remotely as a technical project manager and spending as much time as he can with his wife Ashley and son Kai. Charlie will never turn down an opportunity before or after class to nerd about all things CrossFit.

With plenty of room to lift, push, and pull, and a turf strip in the back for sled work and conditioning, this space is all about giving you the tools and freedom to train with purpose.
